Diane Pradat Pumphrey and Carl Hagwood received a unanimous defense verdict in Hinds County Circuit Court in a medical malpractice case.
The plaintiffs claimed that the treating neurologist and obstetrician were negligent in prescribing Depakote to manage seizures during pregnancy resulting in permanent brain damage to the infant. The two-week trial resulted in a unanimous defense verdict based on the defense that the parents were informed of the material known risks of taking Depakote to control seizures at the time of conception and during pregnancy.
